Hound

Try the Hound beta

Hound is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play as Hound: Fitness with Friends. Until then, the beta is free on iPhone and Android.

iPhone

  1. 1

    Install TestFlight

TestFlight is Apple's free app for beta apps. The link below offers it first if you don't have it.

  2. 2

    Join the Hound beta

    Get Hound on TestFlight

Open this page on your iPhone, tap the button, then tap Accept and Install in TestFlight.

Android

Two ways to get it. Google Play is the easy one and updates itself, but it only works if Steve has added your Google account to the test group. Anyone can install the APK directly; your phone may ask you to allow installs from this source the first time.

On Google Play, tap Become a tester first, then Download it on Google Play. If it says you aren't eligible or the app isn't found, you aren't in the test group yet: ask Steve to add the Gmail address you use on your phone, or use the APK.

What to expect during the APK install

  • It downloads from Google Drive. If Drive says it can't scan the file for viruses, tap Download anyway — that's normal for app files. If it opens in the Drive app, tap ⋮ → Download, then open the file from your notifications or the Downloads folder.
  • Allow installs from your browser. Android blocks installs from outside the Play Store by default. When it warns you, tap Settings on that prompt, turn on Allow permission for your browser (Samsung Internet, Chrome, etc.), then go back and open the APK again.
  • Turn off Auto Blocker. Even after allowing your browser above, Samsung's Auto Blocker shows an "Unknown app blocked" dialog and stops the install anyway. Go to Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker and turn it off, then install right away — Auto Blocker automatically turns itself back on after about 30 minutes.
  • Turning Auto Blocker back on afterward is fine — it only affects installing new apps from outside the Play Store, not apps you already have installed.
